The idea for the Sea Fragments Series developed from a trip I made to Saturna Island in 1994. Saturna
Island, one of the Canadian Gulf Islands, is in the waters between Vancouver
Island and the British Columbia mainland.
This series represents my first experience in true abstract. It enabled
me to experiment further with mixed media adding and developing greater
texture and working with a greater range of mediums.
Working on this series was very rewarding in a number of ways. A freeing
of the spirit in developing the work itself and in the recognition received.
Sea Fragments III
was awarded Second Place at the 1995 Canadian Federation of Artists' juried
art show United Nations Golden Anniversary Celebration held in
Vancouver, B.C.
I look forward to future trips to the Gulf Islands and the work that may
be inspired.
