Spain

In the Spring we travel to Spain with three segments: Madrid and then the autononmous communities of Aragon and Catalonia.

We fly to Madrid to return to a city we have previouly visited. Our apartment is centrally located and we are looking forward to the return. We will pick up our car and drive towards Zaragoza in the autonomous community (region) of Aragon. There is a lot to see in this area and we are already concluding we have not given enought time to this segment.

Then we drive to the autonomous community of Catalonia and will stay in the coastal town of L'Ametlla de Mar.

After that we travel back up to Madrid for our flight back home.

 

Madrid

the community of Madrid of couse is the location of the city of Madrid.

Plaza Mayor, in the heart of Madrid. Build in 1580-1619 it is very close to the Puerta del Sol where we stayed on our 2015 visit. When the Plaza Mayor was first built, it was the main market of the town.. Over its time, it has survived three major fires, with the last in 1790 losing a third of the square.

Catalonia

The beautiful medieval town of Montblanc in Catalonia. 

The autonomous community of Catalonia has four provinces: 

• Barcelona, 
• Girona, 
• Lleida and 
• Tarragona.

 Our base for this area will be the coastal  town of L'Metlla de Mar.

 Aragon

 The Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Zaragosa.

The autonomous community of Aragon has three provinces: 

• Huesca, 
• Zaragoza and 
• Teruel.

 Our base for this area will be the town of Zaragoza.
