SAN FAUSTINO

Borgo San Faustino is one of our Great Places to Stay in Umbria.

We have stayed here before, and we will be staying here again. It is about an hour and a half from Rome. So we were able to drive from the Airport to Borgo San Faustino as the first night on the trip.

Maurizio and his staff were most obliging. In 2008 we arrived late in the evening, driving up from Rome. It was after 8:30 pm and we were able to sit down in the dining room and enjoy a very good meal. Good food, coupled with wine from their own vineyards and you are looking at a good experience.

I particularly like staying here because of the warm reception and attention of the staff, it is very well priced and I it is up in the hills, in the country, well away from the tourists of the larger cities -- yet 15 to 20 minutes by car, via a quite country road and you are in Orvieto.

Umbrian country-side Morrano Nuovbo

Walking down the road from the Borgo San Faustino offers great views of the Umbrian countryside.

No urban centres near, the old town of Morrano Nuovo is pretty quiet.

Cemetry near Borgo San Faustino Morrano Nuovo

Walking from the Borgo San Faustino, a short distance away is a typical cemetry.

Approaching Morrano Nuovo on a morning walk from the Borgo San Faustino.
